Packaging Operations Manager – Black Gold Farms
Black Gold Farms is seeking a Packaging Operations Manager for its 3,000-acre sweet potato operation in Delhi, Louisiana. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for all aspects of sweet potato storage and packing, including facility profitability, product quality, shrink management, workforce leadership and the safe, efficient shipment of premium products. Black Gold Farms is a global potato production, sales and service company and a leading supplier of chip and sweet potatoes.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the facility’s profit-and-loss performance, annual budgets, forecasts and capital requirements while developing systems to track pack-out results, inventory, throughput, productivity and shrink by field, lot, daily run and truckload. Responsibilities include maintaining packing equipment and facilities to high hygiene and operational standards, coordinating co-pack activities, reconciling all product volumes, maximizing revenue from each lot and working with farm and agronomy teams to improve crop quality, storage performance and future yields.
The manager will lead food safety, regulatory compliance and employee safety programmes in accordance with applicable GlobalG.A.P., USDA, DOT, OSHA and FDA requirements. The role also includes overseeing curing, storage, FIFO inventory practices, shipping and receiving, workforce recruitment and development, and daily coordination with sales, farm management, agronomy and the packshed team. The objective is to align orders, schedules, volumes, labour and customer specifications while minimizing waste, rework and operating costs.
